  • Good Morning All, Posting on behalf on my husband. He was diagnosed 5 years ago with T2 and an HbAIC in the high teens ( I forget the exact figure) Initially he gained good control using just a low carb diet but in recent years has fallen 'off the wagon' somewhat ! Covid and it's aftermath...

The support is endless and much appreciated, speaking from my own perspective. Very much appreciate all the help and support i received....
  • Sorry in advance for my English In the year of the centenary of insulin, I suddenly wondered what the people who saved my life were like. I knew that their working relationship wasn’t generally good, but that was the limit of my knowledge. Suddenly, for some reason, I became so interested that...
  • Finally had the Italian holiday we paid for three years ago. However, being Italy, there was a question to be answered about how (and whether) to handle my current keto-level carb intake. I thought I might be able to handle a more relaxed low-ish carb level that would be a compromise. I had...

No surprises. A1c at 37, around where it's been for two years or so: BP down a bit at 125/80; and my weight is down to 95kg. First time I've been under 100kg in maybe ten years. Not much else of note really. Onwards.

Hi All, I have been on medication for 6 weeks now, following low carb diet and exercise and still cannot even reach 5.5 glucose reading before meals. I’ve started from 18.9 and my hba1c was 117 so sky high but when testing I still get readings of 7 and upon waking 8… not sure what else to do....

As part of our relaunch of Low-carb Skipton we're talking to some of the local media. This case study (me) might be used. Thought it worth putting here too. I’m 64, and for as long as I can remember I had always tried to eat the recommended diet and take enough exercise – this is what the NHS...

About 5hr:20min of actual walking, over the course of a, perhaps (I wish I'd recorded end time), 7.5 hour day. Not the worst start for an untrained 115kg man, pounding down on size 8 feeties. I split the GPS recording into two parts so I could record the time for a half-marathon, which is a...
  • [MEDIA] "Enjoy The Silence" Words like violence Break the silence Come crashing in Into my little world Painful to me Pierce right through me Can't you understand Oh my little girl All I ever wanted All I ever needed Is here in my arms Words are very unnecessary They can only do harm Vows...
  • This might be a short-lived experiment. However, as a fully-paid-up, card-carrying high-carb-apologist, I feel somewhat of a fraud every time I eat overt proteins and overt fats ;) And while it's not possible to completely eliminate fats and proteins from a plant-based diet (All plant-foods...

  • Blog 91. Since I detailed my state of mind, I needed something to distract me getting through holiday period. So I started looking at type two research and latest developments as well as my own continuous battle with anxiety issues and ETS, and RLS, on top of my dietary limitations due to my...
  • I have had diabetes 2 now for a while but not on any medication. Just had my yearly check and my sugar levels are 11.9 (been told this is not good). My doctor has given me a meter to check my sugar levels over the coming week. I have put my self on a strict diet. In 4 days of dieting I have...

it was to be a 28-hour liquid-fast. Drank water, soy-milk and a little bit of grape-juice. Broke with a few unsalted peanuts and a couple of dried-figs. Went by without a hitch. Very smooth. Only felt like I wanted to eat during the morning. But once that passed, it was plain-sailing. Feel...
